Partners for Places. Ann Arbor, Michigan.
www.partnersforplaces.org

The staff of Land Architects created this organization with fellow Ann Arborites, John Burnett and Andy McGowan. Partners for Places is one of Ann Arbor's newest non-profit organizations devoted to building community by improving the quality and vitality of public spaces. As president, Andy McGowan has led the organization, working tirelessly with the Ann Arbor community to improve Liberty Plaza, which has historically been a neglected space, centrally located in downtown Ann Arbor. As a result, many positive steps have been taken to make this space a more vital part of the community including:

Downtown Development Authority
$200,000 allocated to Liberty Plaza for infrastructure repairs and site ammenities.

Magic Carpet Mornings
A seven part series of stories, theater, and musical performances for children sponsored by the Ann Arbor Public Library.

Pilar’s Tamale Cart
Ann Arbor’s first Tamale vending cart operating solely in Liberty Plaza.

Music in the Park
Musical performances organized by the Herb David Guitar Studio.

Lunch in the Park
Weekly lunch outing in Liberty Plaza by Ann Arbor’s mayor, John Hieftje. Join the mayor for lunch in the park every Monday between 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
(weather permitting)

Ann Arbor Police Department
Police officers allocated to Liberty Plaza to patrol, monitor, and combat criminal activity in the park.
